As an Alabaster native and Thompson High School graduate, my hometown means the world to me.
It’s where I grew up, it’s what shaped my into who I am today. When the idea to start a business came to mind, I knew what I wanted to do and I knew how to do it. I just didn’t have a name. That’s when the old cotton mill came to mind. The Siluria Cotton Mill has been an Alabaster icon for my entire life. Recently, the city of Alabaster gave new life to the old mill water tower. When I thought about the water tower, I thought, “ that’s it!” If the water tower can become an icon that symbolizes hope, prosperity, and community, I’ve got the perfect name for my company! From there, Siluria Mills Co. was born. My hope and goals are simple. To bring prosperity to Alabaster by reminding folks of home. To make people remember their time at THS, the Dixie Youth Fields, prom, homecoming, Friday night lights, the endless trips to the promenade and Sonic on the weekends, the day trips to the slab and the creek with friends, and all the other things that Alabaster is, was, and continues to be all through the sense of smell--Smells like home. We put lots of love and careful attention in each item; so from our family to yours, we hope you enjoy our work as much as we enjoy bringing it to you. |
